Letter home
Hi everyone.
Not long now until we are in Austria, finally! Before we get into things I just want to say a huge thank you for the support you have given me up to this point, and for the coming season. Its been pretty busy since being back in the UK, starting off immediately getting a Covid test which was one of the most uncomfortable feelings I’ve ever gone through. I have been to Red Bull for simulator twice now and also Hitech twice preparing for round one. Preparation has even taken a creative twist as Enzo and I have been playing tennis using shipping crates as nets. Prior to going to Austria, I have another 3 days at Hitech, where each of us drivers will make a PowerPoint presentation on the strategies we think will be best as well as more simulator prep. I unfortunately have to do another Covid test and go through that horrible feeling again. This will be next Monday, 29th, but at least this time Enzo has to go through it as well. Then on Wednesday 1st July, we will fly out to Austria on the FOM [Formula One Management] charter flight. We opted for this as we figured it would be less likely to be cancelled and easier to get into the country.
Ready to go!
So far the prep with Hitech has been very good. I already noticed this from the prep we did for Bahrain, it is a lot more thorough than anything I’ve ever experienced. I have a very good relationship with the team and especially my engineer. We have back to back weekends in Austria for rounds 1 and 2, and then round 3 the week after in Budapest, so it will be very full-on. I think this could be positive for us as we have been through TRS where we were back to back 5 weeks in a row. Red Bull ring is a track I like but unfortunately struggled at last year as I was very sick. Budapest, however, is one of my favourite tracks, I really like the layout and it’s one I always loved watching F1 on. I’m super excited to get into things and I think we have the opportunity to have a very good season this year. It’s been a long time since I’ve been in the car but I won't have long to adjust. We are trying to get into some sort of car for a test but it's not looking likely. I will keep you all posted.
Thank you very much, Liam
