The final 3-day test of the season for Formula

The final 3-day test of the season for Formula 2 teams begins in Barcelona, Spain tonight.
It is the first time back in the Red Bull/Rodin car since the first round in Bahrain and the format will be the same as the Pre-Season Test in Bahrain.

What to expect
Running from Friday, 23 April to Sunday, 25 April, the three days of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya-
Barcelona will be split into a morning and afternoon session with a total of 18 hours of track time available across the weekend.
The morning session on all three days will run from 9am until 12pm (local time or 7pm-10pm NZ). The afternoon testing window on Friday and Saturday will open at 2pm and run until 5pm (local time) while on Sunday the session will start at 1pm and finish at 4pm.
In addition to the familiar P Zero hard compound, which featured at both the pre-season test and opening round in Sakhir, teams will also have the chance to put the medium tyres to test for the first time this season.
Emphasis during testing will also focus on preparation for the next round on the streets at Monte Carlo on May 20-22, where interestingly, Qualifying for Monaco will be split into two groups with 16-minutes for each.

The story of the F2 Car Design

The brilliant Red Bull/Rodin Cars design on the Formula 2 car actually had it’s beginnings in New Plymouth with designer Jack Hintz.
Jack, who is known to Trevor ‘Statistics’ no-relation Lawson, was asked to come up with a design concept for a Formula 2 car that incorporated both the Red Bull and Rodin Cars.
Armed with Jack’s concepts I fly to Austria in October last year to meet with Dr Marko and present the idea of a sponsorship partnership with Rodin Cars to help secure the Formula 2 seat.
After numerous meetings, on the fourth day Red Bull HQ came back with an adapted design which is what you see on the Formula 2 car today. This design is not too far removed from the original concept designed by Jack Hintz.
