Formula D Ford Mustang monster lands in NZ for Leadfoot Festival

One of the star attractions for next weekend's Leadfoot Festival has landed.

American star Vaughn Gittin Jr's newly built RTR Ford Mustang drift car has arrived, ready to wow the crowds of Hahei with its three-wheeling, 9000rpm antics.

As previously reported, the car will compete in Gittin Jr's hands at Leadfoot before switching hands — joining the fleet of its new owner, 'Fanga Dan' Woolhouse. The US-built drift car can be seen above, pictured next to Woolhouse's Kiwi-built activation vehicle.

Gittin Jr and Woolhouse are both former champions of their craft; the former a three-time World Drift Series champ and Formula Drift champ, and the latter a two-time Link ECU D1NZ National Drifting Championship title winner.

Gittin Jr will be one of several drifters competing at the Leadfoot Festival; doing so alongisde the likes of 'Mad Mike' Whiddett, Gaz Whiter, Cole Armstrong, Darren Kelly, and Woolhouse.

Having won titles around the world, Gittin Jr is one of Ford's most high profile international athletes, drifting under the Monster Energy banner for several years at various events all over the world including the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
