Excited to be racing at home

After a season of racing at some of the most iconic F1 tracks in Europe, it’s the New Zealand tracks that Liam is particularly excited about. “I absolutely love racing on our tracks, much better than Europe that’s for sure.” “Our tracks don’t have the wide tarmac run-off areas they do in Europe, so that’s makes it much more exciting to drive.” The 2020 TRS drivers will not only drive a new car - the FT60 - they will also race on new tyres, Hankook, after 15 years on Michelin. “I don’t know how the new tyre will go. From memory the Hankook is a pretty hard tyre, so in the racing I’m guessing we’ll be pushing all the way so not much tyre conserving will be going on,” predicted Liam. As far as the new halo-shod chassis, with 2-litre turbocharged engine? “I’m not sure about the new car, I did drive that chassis in Asia last year. But I really, really loved the old car, that’s all I’d say.

TRS car launched in Auckland, December 11th

Liam’s TRS car was the first completed race car to be seen in public when it broke cover at Turner’s Penrose branch in front of sponsors, guests and customers. Thank you to the Turners team for hosting a great function and for continuing support, along with the Porter Group, as the lead sponsors. A collection of photos from the launch are provided by Geoff Ridder, who has brilliantly captured Liam’s career through his camera lens since the beginning. A studio photo Geoff took in 2015 at the launch of his Formula First season is at the bottom of the newsletter.
